Un grupo de escolares limeños viaja al Amazonas a convivir con sus pares. La experiencia, seductora y transformadora, es también violenta. A su regreso, los adolescentes se contradicen, quedando latente la agresión sexual. Cuando los chicos de la selva llegan a la capital, los padres son presas de sus prejuicios y buscan darle una “lección” a sus huéspedes. Mirada sutil y provocadora sobre la interculturalidad en una sociedad donde el machismo, el abuso y el racismo son cotidianos.

A group of schoolchildren from Lima go on a life-changing trip to meet children from the Amazonas in a fascinating, but violent experience. Upon their return, mixed tales emerge and there are hints of sexual aggression. When the kids from the jungle come to visit, parents see their prejudices emerge as they seek to teach their guests a “lesson.” A subtle and provocative exploration of interculturality in a society in which machismo, abuse and racism have become a daily routine.

ZAFARI, el hipopótamo, llega a un zoológico caraqueño. ALÍ, residente de la zona popular y encargado estatal de cuidarlo, se enfrenta a EDGAR, vecino de clase acomodada, quien defiende sus pocos privilegios. ANA, esposa de EDGAR, recorre el edificio, apropiándose de la vida de quienes emigraron. ZAFARI muere sospechosamente. Todos son cómplices. Obligados a ocultar el crimen, descuartizan al animal. Fábula distópica donde los personajes responden a sus instintos más básicos, evidenciando cómo podríamos volver rápidamente al estado primitivo.

ZAFARI, the hippopotamus, arrives to a Caracas zoo. ALÍ, a resident of the working-class area and the government official in charge of the animal, gets in a row with EDGAR, a resident of the neighboring high-class area, who defends his few remaining privileges. ANA, EDGAR’s wife, walks the building, stealing things left behind by those who emigrated. ZAFARI turns up dead. They are all accomplices. Forced to hide the crime, they dismember the animal. Dystopian fable where the characters respond to their most basic instincts, showing how quickly we can return to the primitive state.

Cientos de caminantes huyen de Venezuela por carretera, a toda prisa, para llegar a Perú antes que cierren sus fronteras. El road movie se adentra a esta diáspora, llegando hasta YARA y RORO, quienes viajan en skateboards, confiando en que del otro lado puedan conseguir el tratamiento para RORO. El viaje los pone a prueba. YARA no logrará proteger a RORO, quien tendrá que mostrarse tal cual es: una mujer que se ha visto obligada a suspender su proceso de cambio de sexo. Los amantes tendrán un largo camino para rescatar su identidad y su amor.

Hundreds of walkers flee Venezuela by road, hurrying to reach Peru before the borders are closed. The road movie makes its way into this diaspora, finding YARA and RORO, who travel on skateboards, hoping to secure RORO’s treatment on the other side. The trip puts them to test. YARA will not be able to protect RORO, who will have to show himself as she is: a woman who has been forced to suspend her gender transition process. Lovers will have a long way to rescue their identity and their love.
